A Tribute From Artistic Director- Michael Spyres
Jay and his family have been an integral part of our company since our founding in 1979, when his mother, Rosemary Jackson, was one of our first Diva's. More recently, Jay became our director in residence, where he created some of the most poignant and awe-inspiring operas the world has ever seen. His influence was profound; he brought light, inspiration, and unparalleled thoughtfulness to every production he touched. Larger than life, Jay seemed to have walked right out of a Truman Capote novel, with the charm and grace of a leading man, matched only by his biting sarcasm and delicious humor. His presence was monumental and touched everyone who had the privilege of meeting him. No words can fully capture the void left by his departure. Jay Jackson's legacy will forever be a part of our history and his spirit will live on as our guiding light in all future productions. He will be incredibly missed, and his place among us can never truly be filled. Rest in peace, Jay. Thank you for the laughter, the lessons, and the love. Your memory will continue to inspire us all." |
